WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!

Oh my lanta, I have been totally neglecting my blog lately. There is so much happening! I've come to my moms house in Iowa for the holidays with my boyfriend and we've been so busy. I haven't seen my mom in almost a year so all I've wanted to do is hang out with her. And I can't believe Thanksgiving is just a week away! It definitely snuck up on me. I've been busy crocheting things for relatives and planning what I'm going to contribute to Turkey Day. I have to bake/cook at least 4 things, or I just won't be satisfied with myself (lol). I'm also working on opening up an Etsy shop, and my hair stylist told me I could put some items in her shop downtown to sell! I'm so excited!

Later tonight I'm gonna post about the Rugelach I made a few nights ago. I got the recipe from the wonderful eat me, delicious. She has some stellar recipes on her blog that you must check out. I have at least 10 saved in my bookmarks.

OK, I think it's about time I get off here and go take a shower. I feel icky from my run this morning.

Take 'er easy, everyone :)

Free Time

This weekend we had some free time, and I really wanted to crochet something super cute. So I asked for some suggestions and my friend mentioned a cupcake hat. So I tried it out. But I figured I'd start with a baby sized one, just to see how it would go.

I think it went pretty well! I got it done in about 2 days, so it was pretty quick. My cell phone kind of washes it out, but the sprinkles are yellow, pink and green. The pattern had a crocheted cherry on top, but I decided to go with a pom pom instead, because they're just so cute (and fun to make!) I'm excited that it turned out well, and I just wish I knew a baby that I could give it to!

Beer City USA

So. I've recently learned that Asheville has been named Beer City USA. Now, I don't know how official that is, but it definitely makes sense. There is a multitude of local breweries and cool bars here, and an awesome beer selection in just about every store and gas station I go to. I know I am only 20, but I can certainly appreciate a good brew. I can thank my brother and boyfriend for that :)

Last night we picked up a 6 pack of Post Road Pumpkin Ale

This is hands down the best Pumpkin Ale I've ever had. It smelled amaziiiiing! Ugh, I couldn't get my nose out of the bottle. It was full of yummy spices and had a very definite pumpkin flavor. So perfect for this cold mountain weather.

Apparently early American Colonialists used pumpkin in their beer a lot because they were plentiful and nutritious. Cool little factoid for ye all. Kudos, colonialists!

I think I'll have one before we walk downtown. Night!

Well, we made it.

I haven't posted anything in a few days, but that's because me and the boyfriend (Colin) have been getting our butts to Asheville! ...and trying our best to find jobs. We're staying with my brother right now, and it's a little cramped but at least we have a place to stay :) We went out today applying at different places. There are SO many more job opportunities here than in Jacksonville. We both applied at this beautiful resort called The Grove Park Inn (you really should check it out. it's gorgeous!) and a few places in the mall. I found a listing online for a doggie daycare that's hiring, so I applied there too. I would love to work with animals!

But yeah, other than that we've been enjoying this beautiful city and it's amazing weather. The fall foliage here is INSANE! On sunday we went on the parkway and hiked about a mile up Craggy Gardens. It was super windy and cold on the peak, but so worth it! I was literally holding on to my hat. (this cell phone picture doesn't do the colors justice, btw.)

So now we are at the apartment, listening to Iron & Wine and just hanging around. I've got some crocheting I need to get done, and Colin is reading. I can't tell you how excited I am about getting our own apartment. The deposit is the only thing that's going to be tricky, but I'm sure we'll figure it out.

More Asheville updates to come. I'm so happy to be here.

Tawashi Time!

I finished my Tawashi last night while I was WIDE AWAKE until 6 am. My boyfriend was sound asleep by 3, but my eyes just would not shut. Stupid men and their sleeping abilities. So I sat up and crocheted, watched Parks and Rec and Ever After. I can't complain I guess. I am truly a sucker for a good fairy tale-esque movie. They make me feel all fuzzy. Plus, Drew Barrymore is awesome sauce.

I cinched part of the tawashi too tight so it turned out to look like a very round heart. But I like it.

More crochet and daily ramblings to come.

Confused

I've just created this blog and I am truly confused! Yikes. I'll get the hang of it eventually!
